The Forestry Conservation Technician I Certificate of Achievement (33 units) is designed to develop skills for the broad field of forestry, conservation, and land management. Upon completion of this certificate, students demonstrate a technical understanding of forestry policies, forest ecology, climate impacts, land management, flora and fauna, tourism management, and fire management. This program includes industry recognized training and certifications, and it prepares students for a career with public forestry or land access agencies.
Each course for this certificate must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.
This program anticipates 10-15 annual completers.

- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
This program meets the college mission by providing innovative delivery methods and critically needed workforce education through community partnerships. The Cerro Coso Community College Master Plan includes expansion of programming specific to Tehachapi and Eastern Sierra College Center with extensive community input, cross-sector partnerships, available workforce funding, legislative directives, and Chancellor's Office alignment. It also fulfills the defined goals of the public service annual unit plans in the area of forestry and outdoor recreation. This program has been developed in conjunction with multiple other programs across the industry sectors identified by federal, state, and local initiatives. The curriculum development process included Public Services Advisory committee input and voting, paid professional curriculum expert input, and regional Memorandum of Understanding development with public agencies.
