Employment in management occupations is projected to grow 7 percent from 2019 to 2029, faster than the average for all occupations. Employment growth is expected to be driven by the formation of new organizations and expansion of existing ones, which should require more workers to manage these operations. In many occupations, employees are required to take continuing education and skill development courses throughout their careers, creating demand for workers who develop and provide training materials. Our Management certificate is available to those desiring to continue their business education.
Job prospects are excellent, as about 505,000 new jobs will result from the 7 percent growth expected from 2019 to 2029. Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire. Overall, job prospects should be favorable due to the continuing need for workplace training and education.
The median annual wage for management occupations was $105,660 in May 2019, which was the highest wage of all the major occupational groups. However, in most cases, more than a Certificate in Management is required to earn higher salaries. The certificate is the foundation in building business knowledge and skills for the students who want to earn not only a certificate, but an AA or AS in Business, and/or transfer for a BS, MBA degree, or CPA certification.
According to Labor Market Information for Los Angeles, there were 66,249 management jobs. The annual openings are6,995 with median earnings of $29.03/hour. The entry-level wages are above the livable wage, which is roughly $15 per hour.
Some of the top companies posting for managers are the UC’s, CSU’s and USC; Target Corporation; McDonald’s Corporation; Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company; H&R Block, Inc.; FedEx Corporation, and Walgreens.
The top posted job titles are service managers, Shift supervisors, Customer success managers, Accounts payable supervisors, and Administrators.
The Top Skills most desired for manager employees are Communications, oral and written (44%), Customer service (42%), Management experience (38%), Sales (24%), and MS Word & Excel(19%). All of these are part of the Management Certificate of Achievement.
