The Automotive Engine Performance Technology Certificate of Achievement will provide learning opportunities related to vehicle systems such as: Vehicle Electrical and Electronics, Networks, Internal Combustion Engines, Engine Management, Ignition, Emission Controls.
Courses included in this program meet the prerequisite requirements for indivudual completion.
Upon the completion of the program the student should be able to:
1. Students completing the Chabot Automotive Technology AS Degree or Certificate Training will be prepared to obtain employment in the automotive industry.
2. Students completing the Chabot Automotive Technology AS Degree or Certificate Training will be able to demonstrate the expertise needed to perform vehicle maintenance, service, diagnosis, and repair of current vehicles. They will display the confidence to perform automotive operations in a timely and professional manner with limited supervision. Students will also demonstrate an ethical code conforming to the highest standards of the automotive industry.
The Automotive program consistently maintains a 200+unduplicated student population. Typically, Automotive students complete all of the courses offered as they prepare for industry employment. As students’ progress through the individual courses, they complete multiple certificates constructed in a stackable pathway towards transition to employment or Degree. Estimated annual completion numbers for this program is 12+.

This program of study directly aligns with the core mission of the college to provide students with career preparedness. The program and courses that are included provide students with the applicable knowledge and practical experiences to obtain high demand, high skill and high paying positions in the Automotive and Transportation industries.

Course Report
The Automotive Engine Performance Technology Certificate of Achievement replaces a previously offered certificate that has been deactivated. This program provides students with a focused program of learning that aligns with industry technician progression, and supports a pathway to additional certificates and degree. The Automotive and Transportation Industry overall has been experiencing a huge demand for technicians for some time. The need for qualified technicians has only been increased with the inclusion of new vehicle technologies and the transition towards electrification.
