Catalog Description

The Photojournalism certificate combines aspects of information gathering and photography for news and feature storytelling. Students will be well versed in the creation of visuals for news and feature stories, as well as the creation of picture stories for publication in various media outlets. Students may be able to obtain jobs as a photojournalist.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Compose photographs and write captions in a timely manner for various media outlets.
  • Evaluate the changing skill demands and opportunities in photojournalism in a modern society.
  • Create professional photojournalistic works.

The minimum time for completion of this certificate is three semesters. Completion time will vary based on student preparation and number of classes completed per semester.
