Catalog Description

Quality control is a high level application of standards, systems, tools, processes, procedures and activities exercised by contractors, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that the work they perform is constructed in accordance with the owner/agency contractually prescribed quality requirements. Courses provide a comprehensive overview of the administration of quality, with emphasis on Quality Control for public construction contracts. The certificate of achievement prepares working students to obtain advanced positions in the Quality Control profession.

Students completing the Construction Quality Control Certificate of Achievement will:

  1. Examine the basic construction management systems and processes employed in the planning, design and construction of building and heavy civil construction.
  2. Analyze the various supporting functions and roles within the construction management organization.
  3. Examine the various contract documents, laws and regulations governing construction quality.
  4. Understand the various types of construction and the means and methods employed in construction.
  5. Examine the Construction Quality System, its supporting elements and the attributes of a successful implementation.
  6. Develop a Construction Quality Control Plan.
