College of the Desert’s Health and Wellness Coach Certificate will equip students with the practical skills necessary to translate concepts of health and wellness into a plan of action that creates lasting changes for clients’ health status and well-being. Health and Wellness Coaches will work with clients to evaluate their desired wellness outcomes as well as their individual strengths and challenges. They will assist clients in developing a series of personal wellness goals and guide them through the steps needed for them to achieve measurable and realistic health outcomes. Completion of the Health and Wellness Coach Certificate of Achievement will qualify students to sit for the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching examination

Program Requirements Narrative

Health and Wellness Coaching is an emerging field that promotes health, wellness, and overall well-being is a valuable tool to improve public health outcomes related to chronic disease, physical fitness, and mental health. College of the Desert’s Health and Wellness Coach Certificate will equip students with the practical skills necessary to translate concepts of health and wellness into a plan of action that creates lasting changes for clients’ health status and well-being. Health and Wellness Coaches will work with clients to evaluate their desired wellness outcomes as well as their individual strengths and challenges. They will assist clients in developing a series of personal wellness goals and guide them through the steps needed for them to achieve measurable and realistic health outcomes. Health and Wellness Coaches will also identify community resources and improve healthcare coordination to support and sustain long-term lifestyle changes that promote health and wellness. Completion of the Health and Wellness Coach Certificate of Achievement will qualify students to sit for the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching examination.
