Catalog Description
The Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement is designed to provide students with the required competencies for a career in residential and commercial real estate. This certificate meets the legislatively-mandated education requirements for the DRE Real Estate Salesperson license exam; it also prepares students to pass the exam. To earn a Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement the student must complete all REQUIRED COURSES with a grade of “C” or better.
Enrollment Completer Projections
We project 30 students will complete the program in Spring 2019; 35 students will complete in Spring 2020; 40 students in will complete in Spring 2021.

Program Goal
The Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement is designed to provide students with the educational courses needed for a career in the real estate sales profession. To obtain a California Real Estate Salesperson license, candidates must first qualify for and pass a written examination. To qualify to sit for the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) Real Estate Salesperson license exam, applicants need to successfully complete three courses. This certificate provides students with the course requirements needed to qualify to sit for the DRE Real Estate Salesperson license exam. Students will also need to meet additional age, residency, and honesty requirements before they can become licensed.

The Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement will be part of the college’s Career Technical Education program that prepares students for entry into specific occupations that do not necessarily require a degree. Like all CTE programs, The Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement will offer students an opportunity to successfully prepare themselves for a career. The Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement will be in addition to the existing Real Estate Associate of Arts, the Real Estate Certificate of Achievement and the Real Estate Appraiser Trainee and Real Estate Assistant Skill Certificates at West Los Angeles College. The Real Estate Salesperson Certificate of Achievement will be accompanied by the proposed Real Estate Broker Certificate of Achievement, Real Estate Appraiser I Certificate of Achievement and the Real Estate Appraiser II Certificate of Achievement which will qualify students to sit for the California State DRE and BREA Appraisal exams.

Our certificate does not negatively impact this certificate because the Skill Certificate is not transcribed on a student’s transcript as our will be. The ability to have the Certificate of Achievement on the student’s transcript will increase their employment opportunities. b. Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC) Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC) offers a Real Estate Salesperson Skills Certificate. Our certificate does not negatively impact this certificate because the Skill Certificate is not transcribed on a student’s transcript as our will be. The ability to have the Certificate of Achievement on the student’s transcript will increase their employment opportunities. c. Los Angeles City College (LACC) Los Angeles City College (LACC) offers a Real Estate Sales License Skills Certificate. Our certificate does not negatively impact this certificate because the Skill Certificate is not transcribed on a student’s transcript as our will be. The ability to have the Certificate of Achievement on the student’s transcript will increase their employment opportunities. d. Saddleback College, Southwestern, Palomar College, Orange Coast College, and Mt. San Antonio College, Saddleback and Southwestern offer a Certificate of Achievement in Real Estate Sales or (Sales/Broker). Palomar College, Orange Coast College, and Mt. San Antonio College all offer Real Estate Salesperson Skill Certificates. These institutions are all too far outside of our service are for our certificate to negatively impact them.
