Catalog Description
Industrial maintenance workers maintain and repair factory equipment and other industrial machinery such as conveying systems, production machinery, and packaging equipment. This certificate provides entry-level marketable skills that give the student a basic understanding of terminology, construction math, safety, tools, print reading, communication skills, industrial maintenance, electrical,
and construction. Student will develop fundamental skills required to gain employment in their designated skill. Courses are based on curriculum from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).

Item 1. Program Goals and Objectives
Upon the successful completion of the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Certificate of Achievement, students shall be able perform the following tasks:
• repair or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment
• repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment
• disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs
• observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices
• reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs
Students will develop a base knowledge in the following areas:
• Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the application of principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
• Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
• English Language — Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
• Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
