Catalog Description

The El Camino College Esthetician Program is a California State Board-approved, 600-hour program designed to provide workforce preparation and strategic training for careers in the beauty and wellness industry. Over two semesters, students receive theory and hands-on instruction in professional esthetics services while developing essential skills in health and safety, sanitation, and infection control practices used in salons and spas. Students also have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications that enhance their professional qualifications and career readiness.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology/NIC Esthetician Licensure Examination and pursue licensure as a professional esthetician in California.

Program Goal

The primary objective is for students to have the opportunity to learn valuable skills in the growing industry of skin care.  Students will complete 600 hours of Esthetician training and will be prepared to take the California State Barbering and Cosmetology Esthetician exam.  Students who become licensed Estheticians can work in spas, work for doctors, chiropractors or plastic surgeons and massage therapist or make-up artists.  Additionally, employment is also available in retail skin care and spa management.
