Catalog Description

The Cybersecurity/Information Security Analyst certificate provides the opportunity to master the necessary computer information security concepts to implement safe, secure digital systems andalso the ability to detect and repair various cyber attacks. The certificate is designed to prepare students for entry-level professions in the very fast-growing field of cybersecurity and information security analyst. As a career technical education (CTE) certificate it also prepares students for general entry-level Information Technology (IT) professions.  The certificate maximizes employment potential by including preparation for the predominant industrial IT security certificates; this includes CEH (Certificate Ethical Hacking) and multiple CompTIA certificates: IT Fundamentals, A+, Security+ and CySA+. Two key cybersecurity skills are operating system command skills and HTML/Java Script reading proficiency. This certificate includes elective courses in perfecting skills in both areas.  Cybersecurity certificate also provides transfer preparations to multiple out of state Cybersecurity online bachelor degrees.

The CyberSecurity/Information Security Analyst certificate is a Career Education (CE)certificate that fulfills needs of both individuals looking to enter the Information Technology (IT) workforce or for existing IT professionals seeking workforce development in rapidly growing cybersecurity.  Cyber securtiy is the practice of protecting digital systems from the theft of hardware, software or information.  Historically, these individuals were called network securty specialist or information security analyst.  In recent years, the cyber security term has become popular.  Cybersecurity is a key CE field; this certificate seeks to train students to become entry-level cybersecurity specialist.  By completing this certificate, the student will achieve competencies in m multiple areas of cybersecurity, including computer forensics and operating system information security.  The program advisory committee recommends the alignment of our courses to CompTIA certification, including CompTIA A+, Security+, and CySA+.  Upon completion of the certification and industry credentials, students will be equippend to address fundamental IT security administration, intrusion dedection, and other IT fundamentals.
