This program is intended for TK-16 current and future educators as well as anyone interested in online teaching and instruction such as future administrators and instructional designers. Students completing the requirements for this certificate have completed courses focused on learning theories, online learning communities, accessibility, design, assessment, humanizing online learning, equity, and digital citizenship leading to a well-developed online pedagogy. This certificate may increase employability and vertical mobility in the field of education.
Estimated completers: 20-30 students at the end of the first year with approximately 100 students enrolling each year.

This program equips current and future educators to be innovative contributors to online teaching sensitive to diverse classrooms. It aligns with the mission and master planning of Bakersfield college by promoting equity, fostering critical thinking, communicate effectively, engage productively with communities, and develop work-place skills.
1. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to apply relevant theories and research-based strategies in learning, student-centered design, classroom management, and student engagement as they relate to online learning environments.
2. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to analyze, evaluate, and create online learning environments that satisfy current accessibility, equity, usability, and online education standards.
3. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be able to integrate current theories, research-based strategies, and best practices in humanizing online learning and cultivating online learning communities.
