The basic certificate is a one-year program. After completing this program, students should be a to produce a film or video content from idea to finished project ready for their student portfolio or exhibition via digital streaming platforms.
Program Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this Basic Television Production Certificate, the student should be able to:
1. Fulfill the requirements for an entry-level position in the Film and Television industry.
2. Apply critical thinking skills to execute and learn Film and TV positions on a Film and TV set.
3. Display the skills and aptitude necessary to pass safety procedures.
4. Exhibit effective written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills to work in the Film and TV industry.
FTV has about 6-10 program completers each school year. This change projects to double the certificate completers and ADT transfer in the first year.
Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 8 to fewer than 16 semester (or 12 to fewer than 24 quarter) units (B)
The goal is to prepare students to become content and media creators using film, television, and video equipment and training. Students should be able to write, direct, and produce from concept to finished project. This program is geared to prepare students to begin a career in film and TV production as production assistants.
