Course Report

Program Requirements Narrative

The Certificate of Achievement in Agriculture-Business is designed to provide students with the essential skills and knowledge required for success in both large and small-scale agricultural industries. This certificate recognizes the need for a specialized cross-curriculum study in business and agriculture to meet the growing need for a workforce with business and communication competence, scientific knowledge, and practical skills.

College of the Redwoods currently has an AS in Agriculture-General, an ADT in Agriculture-Plant Science, and two Certificates of Achievement: one in Horticulture & Landscape Practices and another in Organic/Sustainable Agriculture. While students can take many courses required in this CA in person, this CA is designed so that 100 percent of the courses can be available online.

This certificate is intended for students to gain the necessary skills to start a business career in agriculture. But the required courses are aligned with the new Transfer Model Curriculum in Agriculture established by the Academic Senates for California Community Colleges and California State University, making the CA in Agriculture-Business an attractive option for students who might later wish to pursue a 4-year degree.
