Program Goal

The Certificate of Achievement in Video, Animation and Motion Graphics introduces students to the growing field of video production, animation and motion graphics design.  Students acquire the competencies required for entry-level positions in the advertising, public relations, graphic design, video production, and motion graphics industries. The curriculum encompasses a wide variety of skills including conceptualizing a short narrative video, storyboarding, the planning and organization of video shoots, editing, video production, sound recording, animation, motion graphic design, project management, and effective teamwork/team communication.  The Certificate of Achievement in Video, Animation and Motion Graphics addresses the essential requirements that students are expected to know for entry-level positions including production assistant, video editors, assistant editors, motion graphic artists, and others.

A Labor Market information report on Video, Animation and Motion Graphics Occupations prepared by the San Francisco Bay Center of Excellence in March of 2019 states that “Based on all available data, there appears to be an undersupply of Video and Motion Graphics workers compared to the demand for this cluster of occupations in the Bay region and in the East Bay sub-region(Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.)”  According to the report, occupational demand in the Bay Region and East Bay Sub-Region will grow between 7-8% by 2022.
