The Hotel Fundamentals Certificate offers a fast and accessible introduction to key concepts and skills in hospitality management and operations. This low-unit program equips learners with the essential employability skills needed to start or grow a career in the hospitality industry.

Based on current and historical completer numbers for Chaffey College from the last six years in the Hospitality Management program, we anticipate completer numbers for this CA program to be about 30 completers annually.

Program Goal

The proposed program's goal is to provide a foundational low-unit certificate that students can complete in one year, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to secure entry-level jobs and advance in the hospitality industry. The program fosters essential competencies in hospitality management, food and beverage operations, lodging operations, and human resources while preparing students to engage effectively with diverse individuals globally. It also offers a pathway for further academic opportunities through transferable coursework.

Program Requirements Narrative

This Certificate of Achirvement is designed to be completed in two semesters. The first semester students will complete HOTFS-10, Introduction to Hospitality Management (3 units) and HOTFS-14, Food and Beverage Management (3 units). The second semester students will complete HOTFS-42, Hotel Operations ( 3 units), and HOTFS-428, Human Resources Management in Hospitality (3 units).
