The Early Childhood Studies Teacher Certificate of Achievement will prepare students with the education and experience required to provide service in the care, development, and instruction of children in an early care and education setting while supervising associate level teachers and aids. The certificate meets the education requirements associated with the State of California Commission for Teacher Credentialing Child Development Permit Matrix Teacher Permit. This certificate also meets Community Care Licensing requirements to teach preschool-aged children in a licensed childcare facility.
Thirty students will complete the program annually.

The Early Childhood Studies Teacher certificate will include 26 required units in the ECS discipline and 16-18 general education degree applicable units. General education courses must include minimally one course from each of the following categories: English/Language, Math or Science, Social Sciences, and Humanities.

Early Childhood Studies Teacher Certificate - Certificate of Achievement

- Identify, develop and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and teaching practices to positively guide children's behavior and learning.
The Early Childhood Studies Teacher Certificate of Achievement will prepare students with the education and experience required to provide service in the care, development, and instruction of children in an early care and education setting while supervising associate level teachers and aids. Discipline faculty reviewed the Vision 2030 and this program will advance students through the path of a certificate, degree, and/or transfer degree in Early Childhood Studies. This program aligns with the college's program review planning, advisory committee recommendations, and shared governance processes.
