Program Requirements Narrative

This program is the only one like it in the area. There are no other similar programs at the neighboring colleges.  The students focus on school age development and curriculum. These students are prepared to teach in after school programs and as school age assistants.  This certificate attracts students who are interested in teaching elementary and secondary levels and affords the opportunity to work in these settings before they are credentialed.

Palomar College submitted the incorrect labor market brief. The brief that is attached to this submission is specifically for San Diego Continuing Education. The proper labor market brief can be found here: http://coeccc.net/reports/Childcare_Workers. In either case, both briefs state that the COE does not recommend a *new* program for these occupations. Because this is a modification, the COE defers to the region.
