Catalog Description

The Advertising and Marketing program is designed for entry-level positions and advancement opportunities.  Students will gain knowledge of how to employ performance measures in the diverse areas of advertising and marketing which include demographic and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis, marketing research and development, advertising mediums, and feedback for competitive marketing strategies. 

Student Learning Outcomes 

Upon completion of the programs, students will be able to: 

  • Analyze a business by conducting a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats). 

  • Demonstrate an understanding of diverse segment markets and the ability to employ their use 

  • Prepare an advertising plan

Program Requirements Narrative

The Advertising and Marketing program consists of six (6) core courses totaling 18 units and two (2) courses totaling 6 units as elective courses. The total units for the certificate is 24. The core courses lay the foundational knowledge with the initial courses in advertising and marketing which apply to a variety of mediums including print, internet, television, and radio
