Catalog Description
The Automotive Technology Department at Long Beach City College is committed to preparing students for employment in the automotive service and repair industry. This program provides students with exposure to acquire entry-level job skills through lecture and hands-on experience. This program will include passenger cars, trucks, sport-utility vehicles, and port vehicles. ● Demonstrate proper safety and service techniques when performing maintenance and repairs on electric vehicles, hybrids, and alternative fueled heavy duty vehicles. ● Develop proper diagnostic skills required to resolve vehicle concerns for electric vehicles, hybrids, and alternative fueled heavy duty vehicles.

Program Goal
The Advanced Transportation Technology program offers students the opportunity to learn about the exciting world of electric vehicles, hybrids, and alternative fueled vehicles. As the transportation sector is moving away from fossil fuels, such as gasoline and diesel, this creates a new demand for qualified technicians who can maintain, service, and diagnose vehicle concerns. These courses are designed for students to have the best opportunity to learn the skills to meet the demand from industry.
