The Certificate of Achievement in Automotive Steering and Suspension provides students with the technical knowledge and skills needed for entry-level technician job in the automotive industry specializing in the area of steering and suspension.Upon completion of the coursework in this certificate, students will be prepared to take the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) A4 Steering and Suspension Certification exam. The ASE Suspension & Steering (A4) certification exam assesses the knowledge and skills related to: steering systems diagnosis and repair; suspensions systems diagnosis and repair; wheel alignment diagnosis,adjustment, and repair; and wheel and tire diagnosis and service.

The Certificate of Achievement in Automotive Steering and Suspension is a Career Technical Education program. The Certificate provides students with the technical knowledge and skills needed for entry-level technician job in the automotive industry specializing in the area of steering and suspension. Upon completion of the coursework in this certificate, students will be prepared to take the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) A4 Steering and Suspension Certification exam. The ASE Suspension & Steering (A4)certification exam assesses the knowledge and skills related to: steering systems diagnosis and repair; suspensions systems diagnosis and repair; wheel alignment diagnosis, adjustment, and repair; and wheel and tire diagnosis and service. ASE is nationally recognized by the automotive industry as the foremost organization for professional certification.
Program Student Learning Outcomes
· Diagnose and repair or replace steering and suspension systems and components
· Comply with personal and environmental safety practices in accordance with applicable safety and environmental regulations.
· Integrate and analyze online service data, written repair material and technical service bulletins to repair and service a vehicle.
· Demonstrate proficiency in the use of specialized automotive service tools, electronic diagnostic equipment and basic hand tools.
· Demonstrate the use and care of basic automotive tools and equipment.
