The Maintenance and Light Repair Certificate of Achievement provides students with the industry-recognized knowledge and skills required for employment as entry-level technicians in the automotive service and repair industry. This certificate provides a pathway of stackable credentials leading to the Associate of Science Degree, Automotive Technology.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Perform routine maintenance on a modern vehicle at the professional level.
- Perform basic service and repairs on modern automotive braking systems.
- Perform basic service and repairs on modern automotive steering and suspension systems.
- Exhibit professional work habits that promote a safe, productive, and environmentally-conscious work environment.
With the addition of the basic level certificate of achievement, the program expects to increase the number of students earning a certificate or degree by 12 to 20 students annually. Historically, many students enrolled in our two-year degree program have been able to gain employment before degree completion, and this 20-unit certificate of achievement will recognize that students have gained employable skills and knowledge after completion of the first two semesters of the degree pathway.
