Catalog Description

This program provides students with the foundational skills such as CAD, print reading, machine shop and safety, the manufacturing process, and electronics needed to become an entry-level technician to work with experienced technicians as well as engineers.

The General Engineering Technician program is the common Certificate to three existing Associates Degrees such as: Advanced Manufacturing Technician, Industrial Engineering Technician, or Mechanical Engineering Technician.

Background:

General Engineering Technician program is stackable certificate and mapped to the common skills and knowledge as described in Standard Occupational Code (SOC) SOC 17-3027 of Bureau of Labor Statistics. The rigor of the program is set by Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) standards, which has the requirement of Pre-Calculus and Physics.

Program Goals and outcomes:

  • Apply written, oral, and graphical communication in both technical and non-technical environments.
  • Apply the knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of the discipline to narrowly defined engineering technology activities.
  • Conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments, analyze and interpret the results
