Construction safety is a growing profession. This certificate of achievement is an ideal option for construction industry supervisors who are charged with the responsibility to maintain safe worksite conditions in order to be better prepared to effectively address the on-the-job safety of their subordinate staff. Completion of this certificate prepares working superintendents, supervisors, forepersons, crew leaders and other working students to sit for the nationally and regionally recognized Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) credential examination by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP).
Students completing the Construction Health and Safety Specialist certificate will:
- Analyze the elements of a Job Hazard Analysis.
- Develop a site-specific Injury, Illness and Prevention plan.
Analyze effective approaches to mitigating and managing construction safety hazards.

Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 8 to fewer than 16 semester (or 12 to fewer than 24 quarter) units (B)
- Prepare students with the foundational knowledge, skills, and competencies of the technical aspects of jobsite construction safety.
- Provide students with a comprehensive construction safety, training, and preparation to assume in-demand construction opportunities as a safety inspector or for those in within the construction industry.
- Prepare students to acquire industry-recognized credentials.
