The Certificate of Achievement will prepare students with key multimedia skills necessary for employment and enrichment. This certificate emphasizes motion graphics utilizing both 2D and 3D skills.

Students will have the opportunity to seek employment as a motion graphic designer, Motion graphics artist, Motion graphics editor, Motion designer, Multimedia Designer, graphic designer, presentation specialist, ui/ux artist or a production artist. 

Program learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate knowledge of the use of digital multimedia equipment and/or software programs for creating and editing multimedia works in basic motion graphics.
2. Demonstrate the use of digital art techniques to generate creative solutions to problems expand and transform imagery and ideas into meaningful multimedia works, as appropriate to the certificate.

We have constructed this certificate to be both offered 100% online and Face to face. As part of the OEI grant, we will be working with instructional designers to offer classes fully online as well as face to face. We are working with CSU East Bay on their Video and Animation degree to develop a full transfer option as the CSU program leans towards motion graphics. There has been a change of admin at East Bay Hayward but the department head and I still continue to work on articulation. I am in discussion with Gwyam Rhabyt head of department at CSU East Bay.

Diablo Valley College, Laney College, and San Francisco City College have Program's in 2D Motion Graphics. Berkeley City College is the only college to also incorporate in 3D Motion graphics which skills are a requirement in 80% of job descriptions.
