The Electrical Installer Certificate of Achievement prepares students to establish a career in the construction industry as electrical installers. Students will learn electrical safety protocols and regulations, apply electrical theory, read electrical blueprints, wiring techniques (apply to residential, commercial, or industrial installations,) and the interpretation and application of the National Electrical Code. All the classes included in this program are approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards as officially recognized classes for the training of Electrical Trainees for the State of California.

Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
The Electrical Installer Certificate of Achievement is an upgrade from its original proposal as a Skill
Recognition Award. The objective of upgrading this award is to transform it into a formal educational
pathway for technical students in the construction industry. Since the upgraded program opens the
possibility for a longer, deeper, more meaningful pathway, it serves also the need to promote
educational attainment for our population. The Electrical Installer Certificate of Achievement is the
second stage of a nested electrical program centered around the construction industry as an alternative
to programs oriented to maintenance, manufacturing, and automation. As such, this program attempts
to accomplish the strategic goal of harmonizing all of Modesto Junior College’s electrical technology
specialized programs with the vision and goals of the Guided Pathways project (as defined by the
California Community Colleges Chancellor Office.) Students who accomplish this level of technical
education will improve their employability value and will find an incentive to further their technical
education in the field of construction.
