Facility management is a profession that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology. Core competencies for a facility manager include communication, emergency preparedness and business continuity, environmental stewardship and sustainability, finance and business, human factors, leadership and strategy, operations and maintenance, project management, quality, real estate and property management, and technology. This certificate will prepare students for entry-level positions in the field of facilities management.

Program Requirements Narrative

This program provides information that is vital to running an efficient facility.  Students will be introduced to key concepts of what a facility manager does which range from the role they play in the organization to the skill sets and competencies required to effectively perform the work. This program introduces the student to the importance of how and what facilities professionals do to ensure that the building is healthy and safe for all occupants, contractors, and visitors. The requirements of this program are for students to have a comprehensive understanding of facilities management including courses in Business, Management, and Facilities.
