Digital Media Arts Certificate of Achievement

The Digital Media Arts certificate gives students the opportunity to gain fundamental skills using digital tools for video, animation, design, illustration and graphics in a project-based, hands-on environment.Students will use digital software and hardware to create a portfolio of projects.

There are many Digital Media students who do not receive a degree because of the program sequence has not been clear. Clarifying the courses sequence and the degree to include CID courses should increase our completer projections to 5-8 students in the first three years with additional students completing the program thereafter. There is interest in the Digital Media program and courses, we just need clarification on the sequence of courses. 

The purpose of the Digital Media Arts Certificate of Achievement is to prepare students with generalist media skills to enter the workforce as an entry level digital media professional. The coursework will prepare students to enter the workforce, prepared to do entry level digital media work using skills obtained from the foundational courses in this program. These same foundational courses will also prepare students interested in furthering their education.

There are a number of Digital Media Certificates of Achievement in the area that I have reached out to regarding our program. I have reached out to Mary Clarke-Miller at Berkeley City College, Romus Reece ath Contra Costa College, Susan Tavernetti at Deanza College, the cte coordinator at Gavilian College, Denah Jognston at San Francisco City College, Anne Belden at Santa Rosa College, and Robert Cornejo at West valley College.I had a positive response from most of the individuals I contacted about my program because this is an existing program with some updates.
