The certificate program prepares you to start a new business or to make an existing business more successful. The coursework focuses on the development of the specific skills and plans required to succeed as an entrepreneur. Your main outcome will be the creation of your own business plan and participating in a Shark Tank-inspired pitch event, competing for cash prizes by presenting your startup ideas to a panel of experienced judges.
We project that 20-30 students will graduate with teach of this two certificates annually.
Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 8 to fewer than 16 semester (or 12 to fewer than 24 quarter) units (B)
- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
The purpose is to provide current and future small business owners with the necessary skills to start or improve their business. There is a projected annual gap of about 17,047 students in the Bay Region and 4,250 students in the East Bay Sub-Region. The program prepares students to open their own business or to improve the effectiveness of an existing business.
