Berkeley City College’s Social Media Storytelling Certificate of Achievement prepares students for entry-level jobs with social media titles that require skills in video production, sound or video editing, and photography and copywriting, and also provides upgraded skills for those already employed in multimedia or film-related jobs. The program focuses on developing artistic, critical thinking, basic marketing knowledge, equipment, and computer skills.

Program Goal

This Certificate of Achievement will provide students with key multimedia skills such as photography, video production, sound design, copywriting, graphics, animation and video editing necessary to gain employment to create content with goals of storytelling in the realm of social media. Students will also build skills attributed to a Multimedia Content Producer such as understanding visual communication, team-building skills, event planning, customer relationship management, branding and basic marketing knowledge, storytelling conventions, copy, graphic design, video, and sound design.

Completion of this certificate will provide students with the coursework they need to work in entry-level social media positions such as copywriters, content managers, content creators or producers, event or project coordinators, editors.

The Social Media Storytelling certificate of achievement prepares students for entry-level jobs with Social Media titles that require skills in video production, sound or video editing fields, photography and copywriting and/or provides upgraded skills for those already employed in multimedia or film-related jobs. The program is interdisciplinary, focusing on developing storytelling, technical and project management skills.

 

If you wish to earn a certificate, you must participate in the Student Success Program(Matriculation), which includes assessing academic skills and developing aStudent Education Plan (SEP) with a counselor. This plan will map your sequence of courses to help you complete your certificate regardless of the semester you begin classes.
