The Certificate of Achievement in Law Enforcement provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, practices, and challenges of modern policing. This program is designed for individuals pursuing careers in law enforcement or seeking to advance their knowledge of police operations, community relations, and the legal and ethical issues faced by public safety professionals. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of diversity, social justice, and community engagement in law enforcement, preparing students to serve as effective and culturally competent officers in an increasingly diverse society.
The projected completions annually will be approximately 50-100 students when the program is fully implemented. The program is set up so students can complete a certificate in two semesters (one school year) if classes are taken consecutively.

The program goal for these certificate programs is to provide students with the foundational knowledge, practical skills, and ethical understanding necessary for careers in criminal justice, law enforcement, forensic technology, and homeland security. The certificate programs in Administration of Justice, Homeland Security, Investigations (Forensic Technology), and Law Enforcement provide students with a foundational understanding of Criminal Justice and Criminal Law. Palomar College submitted the appropriate LMI from the COE. The COE recommends proceeding with developing a new program because 1) there is a supply gap; 2) there is a high number of annual job openings; and 3) entry-level wages are above the living wage for these occupations.
