This certificate programprovides a comprehensive understanding of the skills necessary for successfulemployment in the Fire Service industry. This program is designed to meet the needs of students interested inseeking entry-level firefighting positions by completing a California StateFire Training Accredited Region Training Fire Academy. Fire Academy Certificate of AchievementCertification includes the completion of FIRE 100 and KIN 97. Correquisites for FIRE 100 include: FIRE 1 and HSCI 2 (Fire ProtectionOrganization & Emergency Medical Technician). Career opportunities include: Seasonal Firefighter, Intern Firefighter,Volunteer Firefighter, and Career Firefighter. A certificate is designed to provide career technical skills; it is notequivalent to an Associate’s Degree.

TheFire Academy Certificate of Achievement is being created in response tostudents seeking recognition for completing Fire Academy Training who mightcurrently hold a degree in Fire Technology but have not completed the FireAcademy. It is also being created togive recognition to Veterans who desire to obtain a fire academy certificatebut do not wish to take any additional course work. The Fire Academy Certificate of Achievementis in line with Fire Technology Program Outcomes as listed below:

Recognize theimportance of ethics, professionalism and diversity within the fire technologyfield.
