The eDiscovery and Litigation Support Certificate is designed for paralegals and other professionals interested in gaining employment in the emerging fields of litigation support and electronic discovery. Litigation support professionals help identify, preserve, collect, produce, and manage electronically stored information (ESI) in modern litigation. Courses focus on how such technology is rapidly changing the legal field and provides practical skills in popular eDiscovery platforms and databases.

   

The twelve-unit certificate includes four required three-unit courses, PLGL 100 (Litigation and eDiscovery); PLGL 101 (eDiscovery Project Management); PLGL 102 (Litigation Support Tech); and PLGL 103 (Litigation Support Applications).  There are no prerequisites to enroll in any of the eDiscovery certificate courses.  All certificate coursework may be taken either for a grade or pass/fail.

Program Requirements Narrative

Courses within the eDiscovery certificate will provide students with foundational knowledge about litigation practice and eDiscovery in PLGL 100.  In PLGL 101, students will learn about project management within the context of eDiscovery.  Students in PLGL 102 will learn about litigation support from data collection to trial and students in PLGL 103 will gain practical knowledge concerning the applications used in litigation support.
