The Associate of Science Degree in Social Work and Human Services Assistant provides students with the necessary coursework to enter the helping professions field. It is designed for students who seek employment in city, state, and non-profit organizations that provide support and guidance to individuals who need community services. There are no prerequisites nor enrollment limitations other than classroom capacity. The program student learning outcomes include: 

1. Develop the foundations of success in the fields of Social Work and Human Services through communication skills and cultural competencies. 
2. Leverage the academic knowledge learned in the classroom while acquiring work experience in a social work/human services setting by fostering problem-solving, self-reflection, and self-evaluation as students gain insight into their future role as helping professions practitioners.

Program Goal

The Associate of Science degree in Social Work and Human Services Assistant is being created to support workforce development.  This program is specifically designed for students who want to enter the workforce in the social work and human services field. The program focuses on the necessary skills to gain valuable work experience through internships and on the job training. This program is aligned with and overlaps the AA-T in Social Work and Human Services. Having this overlap provides students the opportunity to work in the field while continuing their education to eventually transfer and earn their bachelors degree.
