The Medical Assisting – Administrative & Clinical Associate of Arts Degree prepares a student for an exciting career in health care. Students will learn to provide administrative and clinical support to medical offices in various healthcare settings. The program will prepare competent entry-level Medical Assistants in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains. Students completing the required coursework can obtain certification from the California Certifying Board of Medical Assistants.

The Associate Degree in Medical Assisting – Administrative and Clinical prepares students to pursue a
career in medical assisting. Students will learn to provide administrative and clinical support to
medical offices in various healthcare settings.
Clinical Medical Assisting students will be able to:
-Discuss the principles in nutrition and wellness relevant to patient care.
-Apply medical asepsis and infection control measures to maintain a safe healthcare environment.
-Demonstrate the process of obtaining a medical history and conducting patient assessments.
Administrative Medical Assisting students
-Obtain a signed patient authorization to release medical records to another person or organization.
-Correct an entry in the electronic health record in an accurate manner following legal protocol.
-Establish a new medical record file for a patient.
