The LVN to RN program, fully accredited by the California Board of Registered Nursing, is a two-semester program offered every year starting spring semester.
The LVN to RN program is specifically designed to provide the licensed vocational nurse (LVN) with an opportunity for career advancement and prepare the LVN for the additional responsibilities required of the registered nurse.
Eligibility requirements to apply for the LVN to RN program include completion of program prerequisites, having a current California LVN license OR recent completion of an accredited vocational nursing program and eligibility to take the National Council Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN), and entrance criteria.
Students who recently completed an accredited vocational nursing program must have a California LVN license by the end of the spring (first semester) to be able to complete the LVN-to-RN program. Continuation in the program is contingent upon passing the NCLEX-PN. Students who have an LVN license must maintain current licensure throughout the LVN-to-RN program.
The LVN-to-RN program entrance criteria include grade point average (GPA), a maximum of four (4) science repeats, and an acceptable score on a readiness examination.
The LVN-to-RN program prerequisites and associate degree requirements must be completed with a grade of “C” or better.
The graduate of the LVN-to-RN program is eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

The LVN-to-RN program meets the requirements of the California Board of Registered Nursing. Upon completion, the graduate is eligible to take the National Council Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). The graduate also completes the lower-division requirements for transfer to CSU/UC and other institutions of higher learning.

Course Report
The ADN program admits students in Jan and graduates in Dec. The current modifications are due to changes in the naming of the non-nursing courses (Common Course Numbering) and the provision of three different pathways to meeting associate degree requirements: (1) AHC GE and graduation requirements; (2) Cal-GETC; and (3) auto-award for students with baccalaureate degrees from an accredited institution. There are no changes in the program entry requirements and the core nursing courses.
The California BRN required 30-unit option certificate of achievement is not affected by these changes.

In addition to completing the program requirements, students are also required to complete general education courses. Students may follow the AHC GE or the Cal-GETC pathways to meet these requirements. Students intending to transfer to a four-year university should use the Cal-GETC GE pathway.
