Pharmacy Technician Certificate of Achievement provides both the technical and practical training that enables the technician, upon licensure, to function as a competent entry-level assistant to the pharmacist. Program curriculum consists of lecture and laboratory instruction in a simulated clinical environment.  Pharmacy Technicians may be employed in hospitals, community pharmacies, home-health care settings. Students completing the required courses under the Pharmacy Technology Certificate of Achievement will be prepared for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam and for entry-level employment as a pharmacy technician

Program Goal

Pharmacy Technician Certificate of Achievement provides both the technical and practical training that enables the technician, upon licensure, to function as a competent entry-level assistant to the pharmacist. Program curriculum consists of lecture and laboratory instruction in a simulated clinical environment.  Pharmacy Technicians may be employed in hospitals, community pharmacies, home-health care settings, and government agencies. Students completing the required courses under the Pharmacy Technology Certificate of Achievement will be prepared for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam and for entry-level employment as a pharmacy technician.  California State Board of Pharmacy registration is a legal requirement for work in California as a pharmacy technician. 


On successful completion of the Pharmacy Technician Certificate of Achievement, the students should:

  1. Have developed the skills to function as a competent entry-level assistant to the pharmacist.
  2. Be prepared for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam required for licensing by the California State Board of Pharmacy
