Catalog Description

The CADD Technician I certificate prepares students to work in the fields of Architecture, Engineering, and Drafting as a drafter. Students will have a working knowledge of mechanical and architectural drawing and be proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Solidworks software. Students will have a conceptual knowledge of 3-D modeling and rendering. Students will also be able to perform print reading task as they relate to Architectural, Engineering, and Mechanical drawings.

Enrollment Completer Projections

Enrollment Completer Projections is 25 students annually.

Program Goal

This major curriculum leads to the CADD Technician I certificate of achievement for advanced Tech Prep applications, employment in design,engineering and manufacturing related industries, public works, utilities and CADD/Drafting related industries.  Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) Given various visual communication technologies such as traditional drafting and CADD, with industry standards such as ANSI / ASME and ISO, successful students will be able to effectively communicate, understand and interpret design concepts and criteria for industries that design, engineer and manufacture products. Upon completion of the program, successful students are prepared for industry employment and advancement within a variety of related professions. Further,students are prepared to transfer to advanced fields of study in related occupations. To acquire the CADD Technician I certificate of achievement , it is necessary to complete 18 units including ENGD 101, ENGD 103, CT 107, ENGD 110, ENGD 130 (95), or ENGD 120, ENGD 210.  NOTE: Students interested in transferring as engineering majors should consult with a counselor for appropriate general education &major preparation counseling.
