New Program

Place of program in college's curriculum/similar program.
Over the last few years Citrus College has gone from teaching only a few real estate courses to providing all the courses needed to sit for the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) sales and broker examinations. In addition, Citrus College now offers several skill awards, a real estate sales certificate, and it currently developing a Real Estate Appraisal program. Last year Citrus College also added an A.S. Degree in Real Estate, which has received a favorable response from traditional and non-traditional students. The interest in this program has continued to grow over the last few years and the demand for these classes has been a determining factor for adding an additional certificate for real estate brokers.
List similar programs at other colleges in the Los Angeles and Orange County Region.
It is Citrus College’s intent to continue to offer a Real Estate Broker Certificate along with a few community colleges in the surrounding area. This certificate is essential in moving forward a directive by the California Chancellor’s Office to create programs that will lead to “Pathways to Success”. This certificate will provide a seamless process for students to progress from a sales certificate, to a broker’s certificate, to a A.S. degree in real estate, to a university, and then to a profession in real estate that will help grow the California economy. Citrus College, Mt. SAC, and Pasadena City College currently have such a certificate. Chaffey College is 20 miles from Citrus College and does not currently offer a Broker Certificate.
Annual Enrollment projects (non-duplicative)
We project that 30 students will be enrolled annually in the courses associated with the Real Estate Broker Certificate.
