Catalog Description

After completing course work for Drafting, students will be able to work safely in aCAD/CAM and mechanical drafting environment. In addition, studentswill learn skills in mechanical drafting and with CAD programs, CAM programsand 3D printing equipment. 2D and 3D drawing creations along with modeling andparametric drawings will allow students to perform basic drafting tasks relatedto drawings required for entry level employment in the mechanical andcomputerized drafting occupations.

The Drafting Certificate of Achievement is designed toprovide education and training to become employable in a variety ofdrafting industry in the San Joaquin Valley. It is agoal that graduates will find employment in the field of mechanical drafting,computer aided drafting, computer aided design within their first year. Theprogram consists of 2D drafting of drawings and 3Dmodeling for a wide variety of drafting skills for design and CAM applications.

3.         MASTERPLANNING (Explain how the program fits in the mission, curriculum, and masterplanning of the college as well as higher education in California.) All non-ADTprograms must complete.

 

TheDrafting of Achievement is in alignment with Madera Community College's Missionand State Community College District’s Master Plan offering access toquality career technical programs.
MCChas the facilities and resources to maintain the program. Faculty teaching inthe program meet the minimum
qualificationsand experience for teaching manufacturing technology courses. The draftingprogram will utilize the college program review process for programmonitoring and improvement. The draftingtechnology instructors maintain active communication and employer relationshipswith local business owners through site visitsto the manufacturing/metrology facilities throughout the year to follow up onstudent employment opportunities andon-the-job performance. The instructors also maintain class contact withemployers and students through work experienceclasses. This program will fulfill a training need by industry by trainingstudents to work in the field of mechanicaland computerized drafting.

The program is a better optionfor students seeking employment in the industry who have limited experience working in the mechanical drafting industry.
