Catalog Description
The Storyboarding Certificate provides a concentration in storyboarding for advanced skill-level students, as well as professionals in related fields, such as illustration, graphic design and concept design who want to move in this field in order to expand their skills or make a career change. The Storyboarding Certificate emphasizes story development, illustrating the narrative, planning shots, and drawing panels to demonstrate action and continuity between scenes in animation or live action. To fulfill the requirements in this Certificate, the student must have first taken the following courses: ART 137F Basic Drawing for entertainment Arts, ART 186 F Beginning Life Drawing, ART 120 F Basic Design, DART 100 F Intro to Digital Art, and ART 157 F Sketching for Animators and Illustrators, or by portfolio review by department instructors.

Program Goal
Storyboard artists’ specialized skills are utilized at the start of the majority of productions in hundreds of studios in the Motion Picture, Multi-media Arts and Animation Industries, which according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics will reach 73,700 in job numbers, with a 10% job outlook predicted for the coming year. Our campus is strategically located in the center of the Southern California area, the largest concentration of employers in these creative employment industries in the world.
