Program Goal
Goal: State funded ECE programs in California require teaching and administrative staff to hold a Child Development Permit. The Master Teacher Permit level requires students to select a specialization area and complete two courses in that area. Emergent Literacy is a major focus in the process of facilitating and supporting children’s learning and development. This Certificate of Achievement will prepare students with the basic information regarding the overall development of children and details of literacy development along with the basic principles for the field and specifics of curriculum experiences to promote language development. Objective: This Certificate of Achievement will examine the aspects of literacy development in the context of overall development of children. This Certificate of Achievement will demonstrate how language and literacy can be facilitated and supported through curriculum learning experiences.
