Successful completion of the curriculum in Modern Policing prepares students for a wide variety of careers in the field of law enforcement, including patrol, detectives, SWAT, narcotics, reserves, K9 handler, traffic, and more.
PSLO:

- Demonstrate critical thinking skills and cultural competence through the scholarly analysis of important periods in American history,
- Utilize mental and emotional strategies remain balanced and manage difficult circumstances,

Completion of the Modern Policing degree is designed to fulfill a portion of the state requirements for future employment as a full- time, sworn peace officer, while also preparing students to continue studies toward a B.A. or B.S. degree. The robust curriculum modernizes the profession of policing and supports the goals of creating a well-rounded, culturally competent, and equity minded member of the police force.

For the degree, students must fulfill the following major requirements with grades of “C” or better, complete a minimum of 60 degree- applicable semester units (12 of which must be completed at Sierra College) with a grade point average of at least 2.0 and complete one of the following general education patterns:

Working with local law enforcement agencies will be critical for the success of this degree. Often it is more about the timing and availability of the curriculum than anything else. Be mindful that when agencies need to train their cadets it has to coincide with class offerings. I was under the impression there were more revisions coming for the Modern Policing degree, but if not-good luck
