The Electrical Business Entrepreneurship Certificate of Achievement prepares students in technical matters applied to the electrical construction industry with an entrepreneurship perspective. Students will learn electrical safety protocols and regulations, applied electrical theory, read electrical blueprints, wiring techniques applied to residential, commercial, or industrial installations, the interpretation and application of the National Electrical Code, and the commercial basis for establishing and running an electrical business operation. All the classes coded as "ELTEC" included in this program are approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards as officially recognized classes for the training of Electrical Trainees for the State of California.

The Electrical Business Entrepreneurship Certificate of Achievement opens a formal educational
pathway for technical students into the world of business. This award intends to expand the perspective
of students changing their point of view from being focused on seeking employment, or promotions, to
generating business.
The Electrical Business Entrepreneurship Certificate of Achievement is the third stage of an expanding
process of nested electrical programs centered around the construction industry. As such, this program
attempts to accomplish the strategic goal of harmonizing all of Modesto Junior College’s electrical
technology specialized programs with the vision and goals of the Guided Pathways project (as defined by
the California Community Colleges Chancellor Office.) Students who accomplish this level of
technical/business education will improve their employability value as they acquire basic tools to
venture into the world of electrical business in the construction industry.
