Catalog Description

The Certificate of Achievement in Industrial Technology and Fabrication is designed to prepare students to develop the core technical skills necessary to meet the needs and challenges of applied industrial technologies and the various industries utilizing these skills, including manufacturing, fabrication, construction and welding. Students integrate concepts from the areas of fabrication, welding, heavy equipment, computer applications, and fluid power as applied to the technological sectors of manufacturing, construction, and agriculture. 

Students who complete this certificate will be prepared for careers within manufacturing, agriculture, construction, and welding industries as industrial engineering technologists, technicians, assemblers and fabricators.

Program Goal

The Certificate of Achievement in Industrial Technology and Fabrication prepares students for careers within a variety of industries. Through hands-on experiential learning and a curriculum designed to engage students in a variety of fabrication processes, students will be prepared to enter the growing industrial, manufacturing, and/or agribusiness sectors, which provide products and services related to production, processing, and distribution of numerous products.

Professionals in this industry bring strengths from the integration of science, applied technology and manufacturing. This program combines core concepts of fabrication with the additional skills and knowledge necessary to meet local industry needs and future trends. Computer skills, fluid power, measurements, and welding, machining and fabrication skills will allow students to be prepared for careers as industrial engineering technologists, technicians, assemblers and fabricators. Career opportunities are expected to be strong, with relatively low risk of automation.
