iOS App Developer

Description:

This certificate is designed to build upon the Everyone Can Code courses to round out students’ skills related to App making, including design, entrepreneurship, and computer science.

Background:

Everyone Can Code is a 3 course sequence that many students take with the idea to become App Developers and start their own business. This certificate will give them the skills they need to do that.

Student Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this program, the student will be able to:

- Create an iOS app

- Generate and evaluate a business plan

- Understand basic programming structures and algorithms

- Design an elegant User Interface

20-25 students per year

The occupational goals are to prepare students to design their own apps by starting their own business or working for someone else.  

The basis of this certificate are the three Everyone Can Code courses (MAKR 201-203) which bring students with no coding experience to a place where they can make their own professional looking apps.  These classes are a mix of mostly computer science and graphic design with a taste of starting their own business.  To round out their experience they will take one each of programming, design, and entrepreneur courses.  The elective is there to give them a chance to learn more about which aspect of app development they are most interested in.

A minimum of 3 units from the following:

- CISP 350 Database Programming (3)

- CISP 362 Programming for Mobile Devices I (4)

- CISW 306 Introduction to Web Page Creation and Web Accessibility (2)

- CISW 327 Introduction to Web Development coding HTML and CSS (4)

- DDSN 301 Graphic Design I (3)

- DDSN 390 Professional Practice and Portfolio (3)

- ENTR 352 21st Century Skills & Professional Competencies for Entrepreneurs (3)

- ENTR 356 Bootstrap Marketing for Entrepreneurs (3)
