Program Description:
The Food and Beverage Operations Certificate is a dynamic, industry-responsive program designed to equip learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to thrive in the fast-paced food service and hospitality industry. Developed in consultation with industry experts and aligned with contemporary hospitality standards, this certificate offers a comprehensive foundation for entry-level employment or career advancement in restaurants, hotels, catering services, and related sectors.
Student Learning Outcomes:
Students who complete the Hospitality Management Program will be able to:
- Assess and apply the concepts of hospitality business management.
- Produce and present effective written and oral communication for the hospitality industry.
- Evaluate ethical leadership and differentiate situations calling for ethical decision-making.
- Demonstrate and articulate a global perspective.

San Diego Mesa College submitted the appropriate LMI from the COE. The COE recommends proceeding with developing a program because 1) a supply gap exists in the region; 2) on average, the occupations’ entry-level earnings are above the living wage; and 3) there is a high number of annual job openings in hospitality management.
