The Office Management program is designed to prepare a student for employment and career advancement in a business office as an administrative professional. Course content includes business technology training, administrative office management, office procedures, job search and advancement, professional image, business writing and verbal communication skills, business math, leadership skills, and effective meetings using current business standards. This program prepares students for Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exams for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook to earn industry recognized certifications.
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate a professional business image and determine what ethical behavior means in an office situation and ways for dealing ethically with various situations.
- Understand employer expectations and employer/employee responsibilities in today's workforce.
- Understand the importance of leadership skills, setting goals, organizational skills, and time management.
- Demonstrate proficiency in written and verbal communication skills appropriate for business situations.
- Demonstrate technology skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for professional business documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and personal management (email, calendars, contacts, tasks).
- Understand the applications of math in business, financial management, labor laws, and payroll practices.
