Certificate of Achievement, Family Violence Specialist

This certificate prepares students to work with children and families who are impacted by sexual and physical violence.

SLO1: Students will acquire knowledge and skills related to working with families who are impacted by violence 

The department expects 10 students to graduate with this certificate annually.

The Social Work program prepares students for careers in the helping professions and enhances the skills of persons already employed in this field.  In addition, students will learn several personal/interpersonal skills needed to live healthy lives and deal with the stressful demands of daily living. 

All areas of Social Work have an overlap in family and childhood trauma created by abuse.  Social Work professionals will encounter this topic regardless of the community they serve.  The certificate helps to educate and inform students, so they are serving the needs of the community.
