The goal of The Certificate of Achievement in Data Analytics and Science is to prepare the students to work in the field of Data Analytics and Data Science as an entry level Data Scientist or Data Analyst. The students in this program learn to apply data science tools to the collection of data and the translation of data into information, constructing models that can be used to address the pattens that data represents and to help the organizations make better decisions. The program covers data base structure and management, programming logics and applications in the field of data analytics, Data Science, the use of mathematics and statistics in the field, and the fundamentals of computer science. Students who successfully complete the certificate will have the opportunity to support data analysts and Scientist as junior data analyst , data scientist, and data researcher.
We project the program will have a minimum of 10 completers annually.
Program Proposal Attributes
- Certificate of Achievement: 16 or greater semester (or 24 or greater quarter) units (C)
Analyze, manipulate, or process large sets of data using programming, statistical and mathematical software.
Apply feature selection algorithms to models predicting outcomes of interest, such as sales, attrition, and healthcare use.
Apply sampling techniques to determine groups to be surveyed or use complete enumeration methods.
Clean and manipulate raw data using different statistical, mathematical, and programming tools.
Create graphs, charts, or other visualizations to convey the results of data analysis using specialized software.
Deliver oral or written presentations of the results of mathematical modeling and data analysis to management or other end users.

Course Report
The program requires the successful completion of 18 semester units. The units will prepare the students to accept a position in an area related to data sciences and analytics. All units/courses mut be completed to earn the certificate.
