Completion of this certificate allows students to demonstrate competency in Microsoft Office programs by passing the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exams for Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The MOS certification credential is a globally recognized standard demonstrating software skills widely used in current office environments. Students will also learn essential soft skills which are key to building relationships, gaining visibility, and creating more opportunities for career advancement.

Program Goal

The Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certificate prepares students to take the Core and Expert level MOS certification examinations for Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, then use job search techniques to target employment opportunities for certified candidates. Earning MOS certification verifies that the student has the expertise to work with Microsoft Office programs and sets the individual apart from other workers. A MOS Certification brings more employment opportunities, greater earning potential, career advancement, and job security.

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Manage advanced Outlook email features and collaborative information management tools.
  • Create and manage professional Word documents for a variety of specialized purposes and situations.
  • Construct, manage, and distribute professional Excel spreadsheets for business use.
  • Use Access for database management design.
  • Design, edit, and enhance PowerPoint presentations and slideshows.
  • Apply soft skills needed for workplace success.
